Message Center Glossary
Address Book - A list of other providers within ICIS that is used to assist with sending and forwarding messages and documents.

Authenticated - The status of a document or result that has been approved or signed by the person ultimately responsible for it. The result or document is not considered final until it has been authenticated.

Complete a Consult Message - Marking a consult message as reviewed.

Consult Message - Are meant for providers to communicate a request for a consult to a specific provider or providers. (This does not replace the current SACH policy that requires a provider to talk to the other provider.)

Cosign Orders - Orders that are placed by non-physician users, such as an RN, and require co-signature from a physician. Examples are verbal and telephone orders.

Document - A report that has been sent to your Inbox. This includes ancillary reports.

Due On - Allows you to set a due date for the message or reminder.

Filter - Option that allows user to specify the types of items to be displayed on the screen.

Folder - A file where data is stored for easy retrieval.

Forwarding a Document
- Redirecting a document to another provider ’s Inbox.

Include Me - When sending a message, this option allows a copy to be sent to you. The message will appear in your Inbox.

Inbox Summary - The Inbox Summary allows you to access any message or result in the Message Center. It is located on the left of the screen.

Message Center - A component of ICIS used for managing workflow in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Also designed to increase communication between healthcare providers.

Notify - Allows you to request a receipt to be generated when a message is either overdue or opened.

Personal Address Book - An address book that is built and maintained by the user. It is used for people that you communicate with regularly.

Proxy Authorization - Granting another provider access to your Inbox and work with it as your proxy.

Redirecting a Consult - Sends a received consult to another provider for their benefit.

Refusing a Document - Marking in a patient ’s chart that you do not want to sign a received document. A reason for refusal must be given.

Remind On - Allows you to set a time/date for a reminder.

Reminders - Allow you to compose messages or designate documents for follow-up at a later time.

Result - Data that has either been populated or manually entered.

Reviewing a Document - Marking in a patient ’s chart that you looked at a result, but you did not sign it.

Signing a Document - Verifying that you have reviewed a document that was sent to your Inbox. Your electronic signature will be stamped with the time and date in the chart.

Taking (or Stealing) Proxy - The act of granting proxy authorization to yourself from another provider. This would be used if one provider is out of town and did not grant you proxy authorization for his patients.
